Viva a Vida

These are my lovely friends from Latin America. The quilt we are making is to raise funds for their charity Viva a Vida (www.vivaavida.org) helping to rehabilitate street children in Salvador, Brazil.

The project was set up six years ago and is run by the daughter of Luiza (front row, far right).

We met last week and are making the quilt by hand as this is a first for them and space is limited.

The pattern we are using is Jacob's ladder.

Highlight of the day was a shared lunch, with dishes from Mexico, Brazil, Peru, France, US, Japan and Britain!

They all worked really hard and took loads of fabric away for "homework" so next time we meet we should have most of the quilt centre blocks completed.

The plan is to raffle the quilt in the spring/early summer.

  6. Ooh I don't know! There's a lot of quilting on the Lone Star, if I was doing it it'd take me a very long time! x
