Back to Bristol

Term starts this week for Sophie, so off she went on Saturday to her brand new flat, 3rd floor, 62 steps up in this wonderful old building.

She originally moved out of Halls in the summer and into a student flat in August. I had only just finished congratulating myself that she was happy and settled when a county court repossession order dropped on her doormat. The landlord hadn't been paying the mortgage and had let the arrears mount up. The previous tenants knew all about this but didn't bother to warn us of the circumstances. Then the mortgage company was forced into liquidation, compounding the problem. What rotten luck is that!

We could have fought this through the courts, but for the sake of sanity (her and ours) felt it was better to find somewhere new.

To cut a very long story short, she moved the day after Boxing Day into this!!
Praise the Lord!

  1. Ros, the new building looks so beautiful. I don't know what the place that Sophie lost was like, but, it would have to go some to beat this.

  3. Nice Post Rosa. Glad to know Sophie is settled into her new place. But I agree moving isn't easy when one is trying to keep up with their studies. I hope she doesn't have to move again until she finishes University.

    Beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Good to hear she is now settled, it gives you much peace of mind to know that you children are safe and secure! My daughter finished Uni last year and is now safely installed in an appartment nearby!
