Friendship Block Swap
I have joined another swap on the PP Forum. This time it is a Friendship Block Swap. There are 14 quilters taking part. Each month we must make one block on a theme chosen by person receiving the blocks. The first month is Jan - what a lucky lady. She has chosen Amish style with a theme of Squares (Jan doesn't want yellow, black or white to be used and only plain fabric). I love to use yellow in my quilts so this was the biggest part of the challenge! The square I made was a Friendship Star Block (12") and I'm very happy with the way it turned out. All those little points matched up beautifully, even though it was quite a fiddly block to make. So far 3 blocks have been made - all very different. I'm looking forward to seeing what Jan makes with her blocks.
The next name gets drawn at the beginning of May (knowing my luck I will be the very last name to be drawn!) I think this is going to be fun.

Beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteEven though they are all plain colours, it's turned out very elegant and classic.
Your name may be the next one to be drawn.... wait patiently and your time soon will come!
Lovely idea.
Ps: I could not access the links you’ve mentioned. Is it something to do with The Children’s Society?
Hi Gina, Thank you for your lovely comments! The colours are very good together. The 'red' is a lovely pink/red which really zings. So difficult to get the true colours without professional photos.
ReplyDeleteSorry to confuse you with the links. I can't seem to get the whole link to work. So once you get to the Popular Patchwork site, go to Albums, then Jan's Friendship Blocks, to view the blocks (3 at the moment). If you want to see the chat page you will need to go to Forum (latest posts) then Friendship Block Swap. Hope this helps.

Hi Ros,
ReplyDeletethat is so true, pictures do not do the blocks justice. I had two more arrive today, I have put them on my Blog for all to see. I am hoping I receive all the blocks fairly quickly so the next person can get a head start. I don't think you will be last. I believe NN has requested to be last. lol jan
Ros this block is so beautiful! i looove the jewel tones!
ReplyDeleteHi Liz, thank you! This is the first time I have made Amish - it took a while to get the magical colours they use! Ros
