My Back Yard

The sun is shining this morning, and my garden is just starting to look lovely again now that the trees (oak) are coming into leaf. We back onto school playing fields and farmland so its very peaceful round here! We occasionally see red kites overhead, and in the next few weeks the little pipestrelle bats will be visiting in the evenings. The birdsong is just wonderful and there is evidence of baby robins!

Yesterday I received a call from a very dear friend of mine, who is suffering greatly with the recession. Her news was upsetting and there is very little I can do to help her, except be a listening ear when she needs me. This prayer is for my friend and for anyone else who is feeling overwhelmed by life at the moment.

Lord, while there are many things that can happen in life that are frightening or overwhelming, I know that Your power is greater than all of them. Even when what I experience is too much for me, it is never too much for You. Anything I face is nothing alongside Your ability to redeem it. Lord, I lift to you the things that frighten me most and ask that You would protect me and the people I love from them. Specifically I bring before you .......................... and ask that You would work Your healing power in it.

Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psalm 61:1-2

During my week of prayer ministry I found that the most powerful and healing prayer was the one our Lord gave to us:

Our Father, who art in heaven; hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Amen.

God bless you,
