Friday Night Sew-In

Thank you Heidi for organising this Sew-In. My sewing had to be brought forward to mid-afternoon (so no PJs) as there was too much going on in the house in the evening. I hope you'll forgive me for that, but I will explain why! If this is your first visit, welcome!

Mike was packing for a trip to Antigua and my mother-in-law arrived for supper with us as she was going too. They left for the overnight B&B near Gatwick airport about 9pm, for an early morning flight today.

Mike's brother Mark is a professional skipper and currently working in Antigua on a 65' yacht taking holiday makers around the islands, for a week at a time. He kindly invited his mum and brother to join him as crew for one of these trips.

Okay, back to the sewing! I started this Sampler of Psalms BOM a few weeks ago, the first block (Tree of Life) and the second block (Birds in the Air) have already been made.

I've just made the next three blocks. Rising Sun, (Birds in the Air), Ocean Waves, and One Way. The colours are so lovely, and a joy to be sewing when the weather is so grey and overcast.

Our snow has gone (again!) and I do hope there will be no more this winter. Many of our roads have not been fit to drive on and it has been stressful coping with basic tasks like getting Tim to school to sit public exams, keeping the house warm and looking out for vulnerable neighbours.

Here's a couple of views looking out from the back of my house just after the snow had fallen, and the sun came out briefly.

Looking at the playing field and woods beyond our back hedge.

Thank you for visiting!

  1. The sunny photos look lovely! Unfortunately there has been no sun here to accompany the snow - it has gone now, but is still horribly chilly and wet.

  2. What I wouldn't give for a trip to Antigua at the moment. The snow has gone but now it is dank, gloomy and foggy, not top mention a lot of rain - are we never satisfied! I'd rather have this than what those poor people in Haiti are going through though. Lovely blocks.

  4. Hello! Good to see the snow has gone :) It's melted here as well, we've got lovely sun so I'm sitting in the windowsill looking out at vic square, revising/daydreaming :)
