New Year's REVolution

A very old and tattered, but much loved paperback, has been begging me to open its pages. My energy levels have been low and digestion has been all over the place so now would be a good time to take some of its advice.

I'm going to start with breakfast so instead of my usual toast or cooked porridge I'm going to be making some raw energy museli.

1-2 tablespoons rolled oats
1 tablespoon nuts (almonds, walnuts, brazil, hazels, cashews)

1 tablespoon wheatgerm (optional)

1 apple
juice of half lemon or orange (fresh)

1 tablespoon raisins
quarter cup yoghurt

1 teaspoon honey
cinamon (optional)

Put the oats in half a cupful of water to soak overnight. Soak the raisins in the minimum of water in another cup.

In the morning put the soaked oats in a bowl with the yoghurt and add the drained raisins. Grate the apple and mix it with the freshly squeezed orange or lemon juice. Stir into the oat/raisin mixture and top with honey, spices, nuts (and wheatgerm).

The action of soaking the oats overnight breaks down the carbohydrates into sugars making it very easy to digest. It is delicious, with a lovely creamy texture, and very more-ish!

I'm going to start this tonight and hopefully within a couple of days it should start to make a difference!
