I bought one metre of the blue and half a metre of the yellow (it is a soft creamy yellow - not beige - the light was a bit strange). What do you think about using it for the friendship quilt?
I would try each block against both fabrics to see which looks best overall. Alternatively you could put a small border around each block with one of the colours and then use the other colour as the background, that way no block would get 'lost'

I like them - the blue more than the yellow. I prefer dark to light when I'm doing borders and stuff like that.
